Is the ACCUPLACER examination timed?
There is no time limit. However, it takes approximately an hour and a half for most students. For more information on the ACCUPLACER, click here.
Can I take the ACCUPLACER more than once?
Yes, you can take the ACCUPLACER more than once. There is a $5 fee for the retake.
Do I need to attend New Student Orientation?
Yes. If you have never attended BridgeValley, you have to attend the New Student Orientation. To register or for more information, click here.
How do I make a first-time freshman advising appointment?
Visit: https://www2.registerblast.com/bvctc/Resource/list and click "Freshman and Transfer Advising" select your home campus and the assigned advsior listed on your acceptance letter
What is a Student Success Peer Coach?
Student Success Peer Coaches are here to help students succeed. They are current or former BridgeValley students employed by the college to help current students. If you need need assistance, please contact one of our Student Success Peer Coaches. They are in room 012 at the South Charleston Campus or room 402 at the Montgomery campus, via email or via phone at 304.205.6783 or 304.205.6784 for South Charleston campus or 304.734.6720 or 304.734.6721 for the Montgomery campus.

I have a documented disability. Who would I talk to about accomodations?
Tammy Bibbee is our Disability Services Counselor. Her office is in room 012K.
Sometimes, I just need someone to talk to, do you have Counseling Services?
Yes, absolutely! We have two Counselors, Carla Blankenbuehler in room 032A at the South Charleston Campus and Luann Summers in room 410 at the Montgomery campus. Stop by their office and ask to make an appointment. Students at BridgeValley are allowed a limited number of free counseling sessions per semester.
I am a veteran, who would I talk to about attending BridgeValley?
Misi Lair is our Veteran and Adult Population Coordinator. She is in room 402 on the Montgomery campus and room 021 on the South Charleston campus. There are also Veteran Peer Coaches in room 021 on the South Charleston campus who, like Student Success Peer Coaches, are here to help veteran students.
What is the SOOL?
It is a Student Orientation to Online Learning. It is an online module found via your MyBridge online student portal and is located in BlackBoard. It is highly recommended to complete the SOOL prior to registering for an online course or a course with an online component. It may also be assigned in any course.

Where do I go if I need help in a class or want tutoring?
BridgeValley offers many services to help students succeed academically. We have a Student Success Center on both the South Charleston and Montogomery campuses. For more information about our Student Success Center, please click here.
Can my parent or guardian attend orientation?
Of course, we welcome everyone to our New Student Orientations.
Can my parent or guardian attend my first time freshman advising appointment?
Can my parent or guardian conduct college business for me?
No. Parents cannot register, drop, or withdraw a student from a class. Parent may be allowed access to specific information or ask questions about a student only if the student has completed and signed a FERPA form. You may find more information about FERPA and can access the form here.
